WP staff welcomes new dean of students

The Wauneta-Palisade Schools staff has welcomed Clark Benne to the community, who brings with him 30 plus years’ experience as an educator and coach.
Benne is originally from Scribner, Nebraska and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a Social Studies’ endorsement from Peru State College.
His responsibilities at WP are multifaceted. Benne is dean of students, transportation director, activities director and junior high coach for boys’ football, basketball and track.
“I have always enjoyed coaching and feel I’ve had a lot of success as a coach,” said Benne.
He went on to say that he hoped his success would be viewed as a good example to his students of how hard work and teamwork can lead to their own success.
“I want students to grow up learning how to be responsible adults in society. It has been exciting watching a large number of my students over the years go into different areas of education—from teachers to administrators to superintendents. I am very proud of them,” he said.
Benne also joins the many hunters that frequent the area to benefit from our plentiful wildlife. His interest lies in deer hunting and fishing, he said.
Another area of experience he has mastered is antiques. He said he has been buying and selling antiques for over 30 years.
“I don’t do as much with antiques as I used to. It seems that the interest in antiques has been waning in recent years,” he added.
It was discussed that he might find it worthwhile to become acquainted with the Chase County Historical Museum, the historical sites that Chase County has to offer, as well as the rich history surrounding the Wauneta area.
