WP building projects nearing completion

After several months of work, the various improvements and additions being made to the Wauneta-Palisade School building in Wauneta are nearly done.
In order to accommodate Pre-K through 5th grades, the second floor has been completely remodeled. Several new classrooms, updated bathrooms, a new SPED room and offices have taken over the space. The goal is to have all students, Pre K through 12th grade in one building beginning with the ‘24-25 school year. The classrooms are just about wrapped up. They still need some final details and paint.
Along with the updates being made in the existing building, an addition has been built on the east side of the building. In the new addition, a gym, kitchen and commons area/cafeteria have been added. The large cafeteria area and kitchen will allow kitchen staff to easily accommodate all students.
Once the new kitchen and commons area is completed, renovations to turn the old cafeteria into the new library will begin. Other minor updates will be made to classrooms as needed.
Electrical work and plans to add an elevator to bring the building up to ADA standards are underway, as well.
Hardwood gym floors are scheduled to be put in at the beginning of May. Once the floors are laid, painted and holes are drilled for volleyball nets, they can be sealed and left to cure for 30 days. Then four rows of bleachers will be put in on either side and finishing touches can be done.
Plans to have all renovations completed by the beginning of next school year seem to be on track with most major projects being nearly finished. Administration and staff are excited about the updates, which will allow students to be better served.
