Two hundred expected for CCS alumni banquet

Chase County High School alumni are looking forward to getting back to normal at the school’s alumni reunion activities Saturday.
After cancelling in 2020 due to COVID and honoring two classes last year, Alumni Association President Marlon Kunnemann said he’s looking forward to a “back to normal” event.
    “Whatever that is,” he quipped.
This year also marks the return of a community bus tour, which hasn’t been held since the 2019 reunion.
The 3 p.m. bus tour will kick off the day’s formal activities. Shawn Jaeger will emcee the hour-long tour to areas in the community. Jaeger is Foundation & Marketing Coordinator at Chase County Community Hospital/Clinics and a CCHS alumnus.
The bus will be at the school about 2:45 p.m. and leave for the tour promptly at 3 p.m.
Photos of honor classes ending in “2” will start at 4:30 p.m. at the school.
The banquet starts at 6 p.m. at the Nutrien Event Center on the fairgrounds. Kunnemann said alumni in the honor classes at the banquet will be introduced and a list of alumni who have died will be read.
Honor class directors have been tallying attendance from their classes, but Kunnemann said alumni walk-ins can attend, as well, at a $30 ticket price at the door.
A dance will follow the meal and program with music from Matthew Chandler-Smith of Grant, a Chase County alum who operates Orpheus Music and Sound.
As in previous years, the dance will be open to the public about 8 p.m., Kunnemann said, for a $5 cover charge.
Working with Kunnemann are other alumni association officers Arlys Cupp, vice-president; Jacque Banks, treasurer; Becky Bernard, historian; Kelsey Streinkraus, Carol Kunnemann and Maika Leibbrandt.
