Twelve groups on tap for show choir festival Feb. 14

CCS music department again hosting festival’s western division

Twelve performances are scheduled Monday as Chase County Schools hosts the Nebraska Choral Directors Association’s show choir festival.
Monday’s event in the auditorium targets schools in the western part of the state, and kicks off at 8:35 a.m.
Doors will open to the public at 8 a.m.
The first group to perform in the 8:35 a.m. time slot will be CCS’s own 9th St. Singers, said David Rushing, CCS music teacher and show choir director.
Performances will continue until early afternoon with 25-minute intervals between performances.
Off stage, one of the judges will give personal remarks to each group after their tabulations. Groups can earn the Gold Award by receiving a specific number of points for their class.
The show choir festival is open to the public and free, Rushing said.
CCS classes will be in session Monday, so people are asked to remain in the lobby or auditorium, he added.
Rushing also reminds attendees not to leave or enter the auditorium while a performance is in progress. Phones should also be silenced.
Here is the performance schedule Monday:
    8:35 a.m. 9th St. Singers
    9 Vocal Motion, Julesburg, Colorado
9:25 No. Platte St. Pat’s Saintsations
    9:50 Holdrege Gold Dust

An awards program will follow, Rushing said. The public is welcome to stay for that, too.
