Students give service time, inform during FBLA Week

The Chase County Schools FBLA chapter had a busy week last week.
Monday was “Chapter Appreciation Day” as the first planned event for the statewide celebration of FBLA Week. The 20 members wore their “Success Starts Here” t-shirts to school while the officers wore their polos.
The officer team consists of President Ella O’Neil, Vice-President Brice Vitosh, Secretary Jerzee Milner, Treasurer Keirsten Colton, Reporter Brooke Schilke and Historian Morgan Peterson.
Nine of these students then teamed up with the FCCLA organization Monday night in Wauneta to pack Mercy Meals. They packaged 9,720 meals in just two hours to help fight world hunger.
The rest of the  week consisted of “Professional Dress Day,” “Go Green Day,”“Adviser/Administrator Appreciation Day”and finally “Highlight Your Chapter Day.”
Members dressed accordingly and even shared donuts with the high school principals and superintendent.
This all happened in the midst of the 12 FBLA students preparing for the State Leadership Conference April 11-13. Students will each test in five business-related topics such as accounting, technology and job interviews.
Chapter Advisor Sandy O’Neil said she is anxious to see how students will perform at state. She also hopes to see some members qualify for nationals that will take place in Chicago early this summer.
The chapter will also be  sponsoring its annual Krispy Kreme fundraiser in the next few months.
