SPVA band/chorus performs in Kimball

Chase County Schools’ junior high SPVA honor band and honor choir performed in Kimball on Feb. 1.
Natalie Prokov from Gering Middle School was the instrumental clinician, said Agnes Strand, CCS Director of Bands.
“She worked with students to do the final concert preparation of four songs while Shelly Muggli, also of Gering Middle School, was the vocal clinician preparing students for the concert,” Strand said.
David Rushing, CCS vocal instructor 7-12, was extremely proud to have several students audition for the solo part in the song “Homeward Bound.”
“He (Rushing) was wildly excited when Aria McNair was chosen out of 25 students from all the SPVA schools auditioning to sing the solo,” she added.
All the students worked to learn the basics in rehearsals and practice ahead of time, which allowed the clinicians to focus on the finer aspects of music like tempo, dynamics and tonal quality, Strand explained.
