Pair of seniors selected PBIS Students of Month

■ Editor’s note: Chase County Schools staff, working with the CCS Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Team, are nominating and selecting Students of the Month during the school year. Students of the Month are nominated by staff members based on positive qualities or actions they have observed that go above and beyond the usual expectations. The nominations are reviewed by the PBIS team and two students are picked based on the number of nominations and what was observed by the nominators.
November’s PBIS Students of the Month at Chase County Schools are Lili Marquez and Carter Leibbrandt.
Lili Marquez is a senior at CCS and the daughter of Luciano and Norma Marquez.
Lili is an outstanding leader in the school. She is a member of the yearbook staff, Multi-Cultural Club, CYO and is employed at the City of Imperial offices.
Here is what Abigail Bauerle had to say about Lili: “Lili is an essential part of the multi-cultural group. She shows responsibility at every meeting by helping type minutes or conducting meetings. She is always willing to share ideas and help other members.
“Lili has shown respect and responsibility through her actions in our community and was asked by Tyler Pribbeno to attend a Community Foundation retreat in Papillion. She attended with  Vanessa Taylor, and two fellow multi-cultural members.
“Lili uses her bilingual skills to help interpret for others in school and in her community. She has been asked by Pribbeno to use her bilingual abilities to help him come up with ideas on how to involve the Hispanic population more in the Imperial community. I have no doubt that Lili will use her leadership, responsibility  and respectfulness to go far in life. She exemplifies a PBIS student.”
High School art teacher Chelsea Zuege added, “Lili is a very dedicated and hard working student. Not only does she show leadership in our school, but she is also a great advocate for the multi-cultural club and their efforts both in our school and in our community.”
The second PBIS selection is Carter Leibbrandt, also a senior at CCS. He is the son of Chad and Amy Leibbrandt. Carter’s willingness to give his time to help others is what has stood out to staff at CCS.
Supt. Adam Lambert wrote about Carter, “I would like to nominate Carter Leibbrandt for the November Student of the Month. He went above and beyond by helping the Parli Pro teams prepare for nationals. He showed up to practices and did everything he could to help those students get ready for nationals and that shows great leadership on his part.”
Justin Anderson, science teacher and track coach, added, “In choosing who should be Student of the Month, Carter is an obvious choice. Time and again he has shown just how much he cares for his classmates and teammates—from showing up for his team when there was nothing in it for him, to being a leader in the classroom.
“Carter makes sure that he not just acknowledges his peers, but lifts them up to a higher level. He is a born leader who does not desire to be followed, but accepts his role and leads with kindness. He has every opportunity to boast about his accomplishments and successes, but instead he carries himself with humility.
“Carter not only makes his classmates better, but he has helped to create an atmosphere that will be carried on at Chase County Schools even after he graduates.”
Carter has participated in football, basketball and track during his high school career. He is a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, the blood drive team and is a member of the National Youth Leadership Council for the Pheasants Forever organization.
