The Chase County One Act Play Production “This is a Test” wrapped up its season Saturday at the B-6 District in Sidney.

One Act season concludes

Although the Chase County One Act Play Production of “This is a Test” was nearly perfect, the play placed eighth in the B-6 District Saturday at Sidney.
CCS Director Jill Bauerle said, with the exception of two minor details, the judges’ critique sheets were very positive.
The judges’ reasons for the low placing were that the play wasn’t as challenging as the other seven that took the stage.
While Bauerle agreed that the quality of all the plays was strong, she said she was shocked by the low finish, but super proud of her cast and crew.
“Our play was challenging, and I believe the fact that we performed flawlessly made it seem easy. All judges commented on the quality. I was told in person that ours was the best production of (“This is a Test”) they had ever seen,” she said, adding Saturday was the best of their performances.
CCS took to the stage late, thanks in part to smoke in the building from burnt popcorn that led to a partial evacuation.
With schools and audience members waiting for the awards that followed Chase County’s performance, it was a full house while CCS was on stage and Bauerle said their performance didn’t miss a beat.
Dylan Heermann, Andrew Wiest, Maddie Hanes, Brayan Cazares-Enriquez and George Colton were named as Chase County’s best actors at the contest.
Ogallala, with over 50 cast members on stage, won the district with perfect scores.
Gering placed second, followed by Gothenburg, Chadron, McCook, Sidney, Alliance and CCS.
