The one-act play, “The Greek(ish) Myth of Marcyonome,” took first place at Monday’s SPVA Conference contest in North Platte. The CCS play has a large cast of nearly 30 with several other students working behind the scenes. Local performances will be held this Tuesday and Nov. 30.

One-act captures SPVA title; districts next

For the first time in six years, Chase County Schools has captured the SPVA Conference title for one-act play competition.
CCS topped the other six conference schools Monday in North Platte.
Director Jill Bauerle said she and the cast of nearly 30 students were thrilled with taking the conference title with “The Greek(ish) Myth of Marcyonome” by Alan Haehnel.
“The energy our cast and crew brought to the stage was impressive. Our judges complimented our teamwork, our unity and the energy we maintained from beginning to end,” she said.
CCS actors named as all-conference cast members were George Colton, Delaney Krutsinger, Navy Smith, Morgan Peterson, Brayan Cazares-Enriquez, Katelyn Stamm and Mason Tyerman.
Jordan Jablonski and Madelynn Hanes both earned honorable mention actress awards.
Following Chase County in the placings were 2nd Sutherland, 3rd Bridgeport, 4th North Platte St. Pat’s, 5th Hershey, 6th Perkins County and 7th Kimball.
Next up for the cast is the C1-6 District One-Act Contest Dec. 1 at North Platte High School. Other schools at districts will be Sutherland, Bayard, Mitchell, Gordon-Rushville, Gibbon and Hershey.
The district one-act champion will qualify for state.
Local performances
Area residents have the chance to see Chase County’s first place performance when they stage the play locally this week and next.
One performance was scheduled Tuesday this week at the school auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
Another is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 30, also at 7:30 p.m.
Bauerle said freewill donations will be accepted at the door to help cover the cost of scripts, performance royalties and materials for the costumes and sets.
