Nebraska native Karli Hale is a new math teacher for CCS in grades 9-12. This is her first year of teaching.

New teacher shares frequent smiles with students, staff

Karli Hale, originally from Holdrege, graduated from Hastings College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary math education.
Chase County Schools is where Hale chose to begin her full-time teaching career.
She teaches grade 9-12 math. She is also an assistant coach for high school girls’ basketball and volunteers with high school softball.
She said she has always liked math and is good at it.
“While in college I was a math tutor for other students,” Hale said.
Growing up, both of Hale’s parents were in education, so it seemed natural to go into education as well, she said.
“I know that a lot of people don’t really like math, so my goal is to make math less miserable,” said Hale.
“I want to help kids not dread math class by creating an environment they will enjoy even if they don’t like the content,” she added.
She said she loves to bake then give it away after having a piece or two.
“I can’t eat it all, so I frequently share it with my students. They have come to expect baked items when they come to class,” she laughed.
She also really enjoys lifting weights and said she is so glad there’s a weight room at the school she can use.
Other than that, she frequently goes home on weekends to see her family who all live in Holdrege, she said.
“I have an older sister and two younger siblings—a brother and a sister,” said Hale.
She said she’s glad she is not very far from home to be able to go home weekends, because she doesn’t want to miss her younger siblings growing up.
