New PE teacher, body conditioning trainer joins CCS

Cale Holscher’s hometown is Ogallala, graduating from Ogallala High School in 2006. He attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science in 2011 and a Master’s of Arts in Education and Sports Administration in 2013.
Holscher brings with him to the community his wife, Ashley, and daughter, Shay, who turns 2-years-old the end of this month.
He has joined the staff at Chase County Schools teaching physical education for grades 7-9, and body conditioning classes for grades 10-12. In addition, Holscher has helped coach the junior high football team.
This is his first year teaching in a rural public school setting. He previously taught strength and conditioning classes at the Colorado Academy, which is a private high school near Denver. He has also taught various body conditioning/strength and conditioning classes at UNK.
Having been a sports performance coach at UNK in the athletic department as well as in the private sector in Denver, he said he applied for the position at CCS because it gave him a chance to get back into what he used to do.
“It gives me the opportunity to coach and work with kids again which is something I thoroughly enjoy,” he said.
“I hope to provide the students with skills and information that they’ll be able to utilize later on in life with the hope of them maintaining an active life style throughout,” he added.
He said he plans to take what he has learned from previous educators and coaches he’s had the opportunity to work with, and adapt it by putting his own twist on it.
“A coach that I hold in high regard always says, ‘There are two things you can always control—that is your attitude and your effort.’ I always try to remember this no matter how rough some outside variables can be on some days (like the Denver Broncos or Chicago Cubs losing). I try to always have a positive attitude with whomever I am working with,” Holscher said.
Being an educator gives him the opportunity to work with and coach students, he said. It’s something he’s always gained a sense of fulfillment from.
“When I look back to when I was growing up, some of the people who had the biggest influence on me (besides my parents), were coaches that I had or have had the chance to work with,” he added.
Holscher enjoys spending down time with friends and family whenever the opportunity presents itself, he said.
“I like to travel and go to sporting events, and I’m always trying to improve my golf game,” said Holscher.
