MCT’s Peter and Wendy comes to life at Chase County Schools

On Jan. 26 and 27, Chase County Schools hosted the children’s play called “Peter and Wendy,” based on Peter Pan along with the Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT). This was the first play by MCT to be performed in Imperial in over 20 years.
Originally, MCT was founded by two men who wanted to create a travelling troupe to perform for children. Eventually, the mission of the company morphed from performing for children to giving the children themselves a chance to perform.
The play took place on a one-act structure with a single set. Though the story takes place in many locations, there was only one backdrop that was painted with different locations.
The story followed the classic we all know and love: boy who can fly finds his shadow hiding among three London children, and takes them all to the magical world of Neverland. Peter and the Darling siblings then experience adventures, dealing with the nefarious Captain Hook and his band of pirates.
Every actor clearly put everything they had into this performance and it showed.  The effort and enthusiasm were palpable. There are few things as infectious as the unadulterated joy of a child, so sitting in an auditorium and having direct contact with that concentrated enthusiasm was a particular experience.
