Imperial FFA senior parli pro, junior high Quiz Bowl district FFA champs

The Imperial FFA chapter claimed senior parliamentary procedure and junior high Quiz Bowl district championships at the Jan. 15 Leadership Development Event. The LDE was originally scheduled for Dec. 15 but postponed due to the weather.
Members of the parli pro team are Mason Tyerman, Brooke Schilke, Walker Mollendor, Kathya Aragon, Brayan Cazares and Kylee Wiest.
Imperial has won every parli pro district event its competed in since 2009. This year is Imperial’s third win in a row. Four years ago the chapter didn’t field a team.
With Imperial’s success at the state level, coach Jeremy Vlasin said it can be tough to field a team, because participants on a state winning team are ineligible for future state parli pro.
In other events, Tyerman was fifth and earned a blue ribbon in creed speaking and Peyten Buckley received a red ribbon in junior public speaking,
Members of the district champion junior Quiz Bowl team are Tate Teply, Conner Stromberger, Odessa Zadina and Ali Reeves.
Two other Quiz Bowl teams competed for Imperial. Taking fourth place was the team of Carter Kuenning, Navy Havel, Kadence Wallin and Avery Beemer. Placing ninth was the team of Parker Terryberry, Tessa Smith, Miranda Spady and Alex Nelson.
Wauneta-Palisade had two teams compete, but did not place.
