Imperial FFA chapter names new 2023-24 officers

    With only a few weeks left in the 2022-23 school year, the annual Imperial FFA banquet was held at the Chase County Schools auditorium Saturday night.
    Awards were presented to FFA members but also to community members who have dedicated time to help the chapter.
    As graduation approaches, the 2022-23 FFA officers resigned their positions and passed them on to the next officers. Outgoing president Carter Leibbrandt delivered his retiring address.
    FFA is an organization for students who are interested in agriculture and leadership. It offers opportunities for members to develop their skills in a variety of areas, such as public speaking, community service and career development.
    Chapter officers are members of the organization who have been elected to lead, said FFA Advisor Jason Speck.
    Officers serve as role models and help plan and organize events and activities for their chapter. The officers are responsible for communicating with members, setting goals and ensuring that the organization is running smoothly.
    Outgoing officers who retired Saturday include Historian Brooke Schilke, Parliamentarian Kathya Aragon, Sentinel Peyton Dubas, Reporter Kylee Wiest, Treasurer Elizabeth Reeves, Secretary Madelynn Hanes, Vice President Mason Tyerman and President Carter Leibbrandt.
    Newly elected 2023-24 officers are Historian Jecca Yaw, Parliamentarian Brooke Schilke, Sentinel Sean Heermann, Reporter Jasmine Johnson, Treasurer Westyn Mendenhall, Secretary Kathya Aragon, Vice President Kylee Wiest and President Mason Tyerman.
