Five WP entries place at Art on the Oasis

Two Wauneta-Palisade students and one WP graduate had artwork place at last week’s Art on the Oasis show at Colby Community College.
WP Art teacher Danny Schluckebier submitted the students’ artwork at the end of February.
Last Friday, Schluckebier and his wife took 12 WP students to the opening gala that showcased professional and high school artwork.
Schluckebier said everyone had a wonderful time looking at art and having conversations about artwork.
WP graduate Laila Auftengarden’s sculpture “Prosperity,” which she finished last year before graduation, placed second in the amateur adult division.
Sophia Alfayo placed third in the adult amateur division with “Femme Fatale,” a mixed media portrait/painting.
Alfayo’s sculpture “Hungry” placed third in the high school division.
Ashton Wheeler earned Judges Mention for “Idle Hands” in the high school 2D/pen-ink division.
Wheeler’s painting “Music” was second in the high school painting division and his work “Vador’s MP3” placed second in the high school computer generated division.
