FFA travels to another round of districts
Imperial FFA members competed in another round of districts in Curtis Feb. 1.
FFA Advisor Jason Speck took teams to compete in three of the seven events. The Ag Mechanics team made the cut for state, he said.
One team participated in the Agronomy contest.
“I have Agronomy kids, so they have to identify plants, seeds, insects, equipment and soils,” Speck explained.
Another Imperial team competed in Vet Science.
“I have some kids in Vet Science which are basically identifying different breeds of animals,” said Speck. “They have to know a bunch of tools for that and different diseases.”
Lastly, Imperial took an Ag Mechanics FFA team to participate, which placed 4th, and qualified for state, Speck said.
In Ag Mechanics, the team performs tasks with hydraulics, equipment, electricity “like wiring your lights,” he said. Team members also must be able to read instructional manuals.
