ESU contest concludes CCS quiz bowl season

Six Chase County students participated in the ESU #15 District Quiz Bowl in McCook March 22.
Team members included Keirsten Colton, George Colton, Colin O’Neil, Maddie Hanes, Mason Wallin, Mason Tyerman, Navy Smith, Andrew Wiest, Peyton Dubas, Evan Tomky and Zach Herbert.
Chase County brought home 5th place after competing against eight teams.
With a total of 195 points, the team won four matches and lost four matches.
Chase County defeated Dundy County Stratton, Hayes Center, Maywood and Wauneta Palisade.
They lost to Hitchcock County, McCook, Medicine Valley and Southwest.
Due to students’ chaotic schedules, the CCS quiz bowl team only had the opportunity to participate in two competitions this season.
Coach Chelsea Zuege said that students who are in quiz bowl are also involved in a lot of other activities, making it hard for everyone to attend the meets.
In an earlier contest, CCS placed 6th in SPVA Conference competition.
Full team results from the ESU contest were:
    1. Medicine Valley
    2. McCook
    3. Hitchcock County
    4. Southwest
    5. Chase County
    6. Maywood
    7. Hayes Center
    8. Dundy County Stratton
    9. Wauneta/Palisade
