College Notes

    Graduate and undergraduate degrees were conferred for 446 winter graduates at University of Nebraska at Kearney commencement exercises Dec. 15 at UNK’s Health and Sports Center.
    Students graduating with honors have the honors noted after their names. Honors, along with grade-point averages necessary to earn those honors, include: summa cum laude, 3.90-4.00; magna cum laude, 3.80-3.89; cum laude, 3.70-3.79; and honorable mention, 3.50-3.69.
    Candidates for degrees include Shalee F. Pollard, MAE, Supervisor of Special Ed, Grant; Christopher Lee Terry, BS, Multimedia, Honorable Mention, Grant; Abigail Bauerle, MAE, Curriculum and Instruction, Imperial; Lauren Gockley, MSE, Higher Ed Student Affairs, Imperial; Marissa Lauren McDaniel, MAE, School Principalship 7-12, Imperial; Destiny Rayne Beacham, BS, Criminal Justice Comprehensive, Wauneta; Duncan Rector, BS, Aviation Comprehensive, Wauneta.

    Chadron State College’s Winter Commencement took place Dec. 15 in the Chicoine Center One-hundred and six candidates for bachelor’s degrees were honored, including Colby Cox of Wauneta, Bachelor of Science in Education.
    Chadron State College, which was founded in 1911, is the only four-year, regionally-accredited college in the western half of Nebraska. As a public institution with its roots in teacher education, Chadron State takes pride in its accessibility and affordability. More than 2,000 undergraduate, graduate and online students currently attend Chadron State.
