Chase County Schools announces December Students of the Month

Chase County Schools (CCS) Staff in correlation with CCS’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team have nominated and selected December’s Students of the Month. Students of the month are nominated by staff members based on positive qualities or actions that teachers have observed that go above and beyond the usual expectations. The nominations are reviewed by the PBIS team and two students are picked based on the number of nominations and what was observed by the nominators.
December’s Students of the Month are Bailey Cook and Hailey Markee.
Bailey Cook is a junior at CCS. He is the son of Bradley and Faith Cook. Bailey is involved in track and field, as well as the Esports program at CCS. He is a kind soul who is always willing to help others. He never requires recognition or validation for doing the right thing.
Marisa McDaniel had the following to say about Bailey, “Bailey consistently shows up for his class. He has been involved and volunteered to help when no one else does. He spent six hours in the concession stand on a Saturday and at least two of those hours he was the only junior helping. He never once complained.”
Chelsea Zuege added the following, “I have had Bailey in class for three years and he is always so good about working on his projects. He is kind to others and is extremely helpful. As his class sponsor, he has been willing to volunteer for concession stands. Recently, he spent a full six hours working at a basketball concession stand, and was the only junior to work for one of the varsity games.”
The school’s second winner is Hailey Markee, a senior at CCS. She is the daughter of Brad Markee and Melissa Markee. Hailey is a dedicated and involved member of the CCS community. She always is looking to help her fellow classmates, and is an amazing role model for her younger peers. She is a dedicated member of both the softball and track and field teams. Hailey is an amazing CCS student and will be missed when she graduates.
Jacci Paisley had the following to say about Hailey, “I have noticed the hard work Hailey has put in at CCS! She has grown into a respectful and responsible young lady. Last year Hailey was not accepted into NHS, this year she was determined! She used the feedback as a positive and worked extremely hard to accomplish her goal. I have witnessed her with this hard working attitude while applying for the RHOP program at Chadron State College. While she is working hard, she is still recognizing those individuals around her and thanking them for their help. Hailey goes above and beyond by communicating, but also by hand delivering thank you notes!”
Jordan Arterburn has nominated Hailey for this award two months ago and this is what she has had to say, “Hailey is my teacher’s assistant in Kindergarten. She works SOOOO well with all my students (even difficult ones), and she does it with a smile, every single day! She also came on the field trip with us last week and was a HUGE help. She never hesitated to just jump in and play or take kids somewhere or help tie shoes...she does it all! She is so kind and respectful to them and to the parents on the field trip too! She is always on time and I can count on her to do any of the jobs I ask. She is also very kind and helpful to my kindergarteners and they LOVE her! She is a great example to them and to her peers as well!”
Congratulations once again to both Bailey and Hailey for being selected Chase County High School’s December Students of the Month!!
