CCS speech takes 4th at Sutherland

Chase County Schools’ speech team competed in Sutherland Saturday against nine other teams, taking fourth place with 42 points behind Sutherland, Perkins County and Paxton.
Speech coach Alexandria Schilke took four CCS students to the meet.
The team consisted of Brayan Cazares, Kobe Norman, Annika McDaniel and Conner Tyerman.
Students qualifying for finals and their placings were Cazares, who received first place in Serious Prose, while McDaniel and Tyerman performed in the Entertainment category, receiving fifth and sixth, respectively.
“I was extremely proud of my speakers at the Sutherland Invite. They competed well, and I was so pleased that three of the four made it to finals,” said Schilke.
Cazares has been putting in a lot of work after school to get his piece where he felt most comfortable, and it was clear that his hard work paid off with this first place win in Serious Prose, she said.
The next meet will be this Saturday at the Blue and Gold Invite at North Platte High School.
