Chase County senior McKenzie Vogt has been named a UCA All-American Cheerleader and will take part in a New Year’s Day parade in London.

CCS senior to cheer in London

Chase County senior McKenzie Vogt was named an All-American during a Universal Cheerleaders Association camp in June.
CCS and Wauneta-Palisade cheerleaders took part in the camp in Imperial.
As part of the camp everyone tried out for All-American status. Also selected were Chase County’s Brooke Schilke and Wauneta-Palisade’s Ryleigh McCrumb, Izzy Stehno and Kiley Anderson.
Vogt started cheerleading as a sophomore as “something different to do.” Cheerleading and show choir help fill her love of dancing, she said.
As part of the recognition, Vogt chose to go to London, England to take part in a New Year’s Day parade. Other All-American selections could  choose to go to Hawaii.
Vogt will leave for England Dec. 26 with her mom, Emily, and stepfather, Rob. They will return the day after the parade. Vogt said stops at Buckingham Palace and Big Ben are planned.
She said she likes to visit new places and, for her first trip out of the country, she’s excited to see new things like people driving on the left side of the road.
“I’m excited about the whole experience,” Vogt said.
The cheerleaders traveling to England will receive the cheer routine for the parade before they leave so there will there will only be fine tuning once everyone is on site.
Her fundraising efforts started in June with selling root beer floats at baseball games.
Needing to raise over $4,000 for the trip, Vogt is also holding a four-person scramble golf tournament Saturday at Imperial Country Club. Besides flag prizes, a silent auction is also currently open for bids.
