CCS to perform fun spring play on zombie survival

Chase County Schools is preparing for its spring play production of “10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse,” a short comedy by Don Zolidis, said Jill Bauerle, director.
Performances are scheduled for Monday, May 2, and Thursday, May 5, both at 7:30 p.m. in the CCS auditorium.
“Because of the students’ schedules and limited practice time, it was essential to choose a low-stress, just-for-fun play,” Bauerle said.
She said the script is a “handy and hilarious guide to surviving the apocalypse,” and the author encourages the cast “to be as silly as possible.”
“The play has the potential for creative teamwork, it’s appropriate for all ages and it keeps us laughing,” she commented.
The cast consists of the following students:
Seniors - Julian Juarez Gamboa, Delaney Krutsinger, Arturo Miscles Gamboa, Nick Rau, Juan Ruiz and Cayden White
Juniors - Madelynn Hanes, Annika McDaniel and Raissa Nevarez
Sophomores - Krystal Smith and Katelyn Stamm
Freshmen - Shalissa Bigham, Jasmine Johnson, Esmeralda Medrano Flores, Sergio Quintana Vega, Hope Reinke and Abby Spicer
Others involved in the production are:
Set crew - Sean Heermann and Brice Vitosh
Behind-the-scenes - Chloe Dillan, Virginia Kimble and Liliana Marquez-Gamboa
Sound track - Morgan Peterson
Makeup crew - Ximena Rodriguez Dominguez, Princess Valencia, Andrea Venegas-Veleta and cast
Tech crew - Andrew Wiest, Jesus Juarez Gamboa, Angel Estrada and Cesar Valencia
Additional production volunteers include Emily Jones, Kaylee Gill and Laurie Odens.
“Our goal is to keep the audience laughing, and I am definitely predicting that we will succeed,” said Bauerle.
Suggested donations of $3 per child and $5 per adult would be appreciated from those who attend to help pay for scripts and royalties, Bauerle said.
The play is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc., she said.
