CCS FCCLA members all medal at districts

The Chase County FCCLA chapter competed in the District 11 STAR competition last week, and all from CCS taking part received medals.
The district event Feb. 1 took place at Medicine Valley High School in Curtis.
Misty Jaeger, Family & Consumer Science teacher and FCCLA Advisor, took eight girls to participate.
“Students are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation,” Jaeger explained.
“There are more than 30 STAR events students can choose to compete in,” said Jaeger.
“All of which recognize participants who demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers or communities, research the topic and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change,” she said.
Marley Randall and Hope Reinke received a gold medal for their project named Focus on Children to help CCS kindergartners learn reading fundamentals.
Esmeralda Medrano presented her project titled Teach or Train to help ELL students learn English and received a silver medal.
Ella Colson and Tristan Stumpff received a silver medal for Interior Design with their project of remodeling an event center lobby.
Mika Killingsworth also participated in Interior Design and received a bronze medal for her project of remodeling the CCS concession stand.
Katelyn Stamm and Emily Randall volunteered as timers at the competition.
The students who received silver and gold medals will compete at the State Leadership Conference on April 2-4 in Lincoln.
