CCS director chooses test taking comedy for one-act

A student cast from Chase County Schools will stage a comedy this year for its one-act play competition.
Directed by Jill Bauerle, the cast of 20 is rehearsing Stephen Gregg’s “This is a Test,” a comedy about the stress of taking a test.
“It’s a fun-filled show with lots of opportunities for students to be creative,” Bauerle said.
The CCS cast will travel to its first competition Monday, Nov. 21, when they compete in the SPVA Conference One-Act Contest in Bridgeport. CCS will perform fourth.
Two public performances at the CCS auditorium are scheduled after SPVA, Bauerle said, on Nov. 22 and 29, both starting at 7 p.m.
Free will donations will be taken at the local shows to help reduce the cost of scripts, costumes and royalties, she said.
Cast members include Brayan Cazares, Madelynn Hanes, Annika McDaniel, Raissa Nevarez, Anahy Diaz, Tristan Nordhausen, Krystal Smith, Katelyn Stamm, George Colton, Olivia Gobble, Hope Reinke, Navy Smith, Andrew Wiest, Navy Havel, Ashlyn Heermann, Dylan Heermann, Paige Nickless, Marley Randall, Miranda Spady and Tessa Smith.
Besides the 20 cast members, 18 other students are assisting with the production as part of stage, hair/makeup, costume and tech crews, she said.
CCS will compete in the NSAA-sponsored B-6 District One-Act Contest Saturday, Dec. 3, at Sidney High School. Other schools in the B-6 District are Alliance, Sidney, McCook, Gering, Gothenburg, Chadron and Ogallala. CCS will be the last group to perform that day, Bauerle noted.
This Saturday, Bauerle is taking a few of her cast members to North Platte to watch some plays at a festival.
