The paperwork is complete on the sale of Keith Regier’s feed business to Veterinary Services. On hand Monday at the feed business building at 120 Holland Street were, from left, Sam Munderloh, Regier Feeds manager; Sherryn and Keith Regier, previous owners; and Dr. Nicole Hendricks, DVM, and Dr. Troy Worth, DVM, co-owners of Veterinary Services.

Regier feed business sold to Veterinary Services

Joining a feed company with a veterinary clinic is a natural combination of businesses.
That’s what Troy Worth believes and what led him to approach Keith Regier earlier this year about selling his feed business.
The details have been worked out, and the sale of Regier’s feed business to Veterinary Services was finalized Aug. 15.
Regier, who’s owned the business 41 years with his wife Sherryn, didn’t totally confirm he’s retiring. He said he’ll be available as long as he’s needed as the business transitions to its new owners.
He said taking care of his customers is important to him.
Dr. Worth, DVM, and Dr. Nicole Hendricks, DVM, who co-own Veterinary Services, announced this week they have hired Sam Munderloh of Wauneta as manager of sales and deliveries.
While the two businesses will operate as one entity, the feed business will be named Regier Feeds, Worth and Hendricks said.
Regier said his business started in his garage in 1981, and he later moved it to a building he rented from the Belaus, who lived nearby.
As the business grew, he put up a new building at 120 Holland Street in 2000, where he’s operated since.
He originally sold mineral and protein supplements, Regier said. With the advent of distillers grains, his business adjusted to the market and he now sells a byproduct balancer mineral to his ranch and feedlot customers.
“Our philosophy has been—we supplement what you raise,” he said.
For most of his years in the feed business, Regier worked for Moorman Manufacturing as a sales representative.
But in 2014, Archer-Daniels-Midland, a global food processing company and commonly known as ADM Alliance Nutrition, bought out Moorman and Regier became an independent contractor.
Worth said, personally, he’s always been interested in supplements. He’s excited about working hand-in-hand with ADM’s nutritionists, who’ll also be utilized at their veterinary service business.
He noted that half of Regier’s clients are also clients of Veterinary Services.
Worth and Hendricks said Regier has been “very gracious” during the business transfer.
“But, we’re not letting him ride off into the sunset just yet,” Worth smiled, noting his willingness to work with the new owners in the transition.
Munderloh has recently acquired his own cow herd and has a small backgrounding yard. Prior to that, he spent 10 years working on the family farm and its cow/calf operation.
Worth said he’s known Munderloh 10 years and the new owners believe he’s a good fit to head up the feed business side of their operation.
Munderloh and his wife Rebecca have two children, son Brock, 6, and daughter Mattie, 2.
