New Imperial business focuses on achieving healthy lifestyle goals

Kym Weiss has lived in Imperial since 2005 and has always had a passion for health and wellbeing.
Through a series of life events and unexpected awareness within the realms of her passion for health, she began making some choices for her future and explored a desire to help others.
Weiss opened a business called Weiss Hydration (Weiss Choice LLC dba Weiss Hydration).
“Everyone is dehydrated to some extent, and poor lifestyle choices can contribute to health issues,” Weiss said.
Over the years, she has seen more and more (and younger) patients suffering from chronic illnesses that can be prevented or minimized with the right lifestyle choices, she said.
Weiss Hydration started seeing clients in January.
Services currently offered include intravenous (IV) hydration and nutrition. This is fluids with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients administered through an IV, as well as intramuscular (IM) injections of vitamins and other nutrients.
Weiss has been a registered nurse since 2009 and operates Weiss Hydration with the help of another RN, Jill Johnson of Grant.
Weiss Hydration now has locations in Imperial at “Myrtle Health,” Grant at “Image Total Fitness” and Ogallala at “Vitality Chiropractic.”
Weiss will be starting a course on Nurse Coaching, which when completed, she will be able to take a certification exam making her a Board Certified Health and Wellness Nurse Coach, she said.
“This will allow me to provide health and lifestyle coaching services to anyone who is looking for guidance to become the healthiest version of themselves,” said Weiss.
The IV hydration gives a boost of energy and healthy maintenance nutrients to help the body function better at a cellular level, she added.
“Most people can benefit from this treatment,” she said.
She is married to Kelsey and they have two boys, Braxtyn and Preston.
When everything changed
The first jolt of reality was  in 2016 when Weiss was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.
She said this was what really sparked her passion for health and wellbeing.
She believes this may have been prevented if she had made better lifestyle decisions relating to dietary choices, sleep habits, stress management and exercise.
“I started focusing on what it truly means to be healthy and well—changes were made,” she said.
Then in 2020, another jolt came when not only did she have another health crisis when diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, the whole world was in crisis as well, she continued.
She said she knew something had to change.
Two years ago, Weiss was in Colorado for a doctor’s appointment and was eating supper with friends.
“They were telling us about a hydration clinic they went to,” Weiss said.
They explained that clients went in and decided which infusion they wanted, like ordering off a menu with different vitamins available, and they received it through an IV.
This was the moment that sparked her desire and interest in this sort of business, she said.
From that conversation, Weiss started doing some research, but was too tired and preoccupied with her  cancer treatments and it fell by the wayside.
In August 2021, she said she came across information on an IV Hydration and Nutrition course.
After discussing it with her husband, they decided this was a dream she was ready to chase.
“I really became focused on health maintenance after having breast cancer and working in cardiac rehabilitation. I wanted to help people  prevent health issues through better lifestyle choices,” she said.
Sophie Spady is one of her clients and said, “I have a weak immune system. My stomach doesn’t absorb nutrients very well, so I needed a better way to get them,” Spady said.
