Mellow Granny’s Consignments opens this week

Last weekend, the Imperial Republican sat down with Ms. Diane Sandall-Winters at a small pre-grand opening of her new shops, Mellow Granny and Granny’s Consignments, which are in the same building as 102.9 Jack FM Radio. Mellow provides CBD products and Consignments offers vintage items and antiques. Before opening the shop to the public, Sandall-Winters, who has previously worked several jobs as a registered nurse, hosted the small opening for friends and family, as well as inviting the Imperial Republican.
Our first question was what prompted the opening of such a shop in the first place. “They used to sell holistic items over at Grace’s Kitchen Table,” said Sandall-Winters. “But then, for whatever reason, they stopped. So, I figured that I might as well start selling them. I’ve been trying to get the shop opened since last December, but the permits and permissions and all that only allowed it to be opened at the beginning of this February.”
The shop is set in the hallway of the building, near the back, which doesn’t seem to bother Ms. Sandall-Winters. In fact, she was quite pleased with the arrangement. “It’s a good place to have the shop” she remarked. “We’re behind a locked door, so we have that for us, when it’s dark. Also, it’s not at the front, so it’s a ways away from where the potential break-ins would be.”
At the end of it all, the ultimate question remained: Why? Just a simple why did you want to do all of this?
“Well, I just wanted to provide a service again,” Sandall-Winters explained. “There was a service that was being provided, then it stopped, so I wanted to do what I could to bring it back” in reference to the aforementioned Grace’s Kitchen. It was around that time that other people began to arrive. Since this event was for family and friends, we decided to exchange our departing pleasantries and leave.
Store hours will be Wednesday to Friday from 9-5 and Saturday from 9-12 with the opening day of Feb. 1.
