Local tractor drive planned
The Old Iron Antique Tractor and Machinery Group have set a date for its first tractor drive. On Saturday, June 1, the group will begin their trek at the Imperial Auction Market sale barn. The group will leave from there at 9 a.m. sharp. Then, they will stop at Imperial Manor and Parkview Heights to give the residents a chance to view the tractors and perhaps put a smile on their faces. They will then head to champion where they will tour a collection of classic cars and Oliver tractors. The group will also have lunch at Cox’s Pond. The Old Iron Antique Tractor and Machinery Group have had participation from people from all around the area, Kansas and even as far as Lakewood, Colorado.
The group is looking for any volunteers wanting to take pictures, video or drone footage of the event. Leroy Grams, one of the organizers of the group, says that their ultimate goal is to be safe and have fun. Grams also says that the group has had a lot of support both financially and with donations of equipment. He also stresses that they have had a lot of interest in the group and now they need to turn that interest into participation. Anyone, young or old, is invited to participate in the tractor drive.
The Old Iron Antique Tractor and Machinery Group have had two successful meetings and are planning to have more in the future. The group is also planning on participating in a few parades throughout the area and will be planning more tractor drives. Anyone wanting more information or with questions can contact Leroy Grams at 308-882-5449.
