Gun shop business to open in town end of July

A new gun shop is coming to town.
Jake and Marissa McDaniel of Imperial are owners of JM Precision, north of Wauneta, and are readying a building to move the business to Imperial hopefully by the end of July.
The McDaniels purchased the former Scott’s Pump Service building on Highway 61, where the new business will be located.
He has already began work at the site, adding on to the front of the building and putting up interior walls to form offices and create a show room/retail area.
McDaniel is a gunsmith and his wife is in charge of social media.
They currently have one employee, Tim Alderson of Grant working for them as a gunsmith.
McDaniel said JM Precision will be a one stop shop for all firearms needs.
“We sell quality products, offer custom rifle builds, Cerakote services, firearm customization, install sites and host training at our private range,” he said.
“At JM Precision, our number one goal is to help you get exactly what you need at the best price possible. Whether it’s a custom built rifle for your next hunt or the perfect pistol and holster combo for your personal protection, we can help you get there,” McDaniel said.
The business will also offer retail self-suppressors, gun cleanings, accessories and ammo, he added.
Background
McDaniel said he learned to shoot when he was young and then he participated in trap shooting in high school with 4-H.
He received his Bachelor’s  degree in construction management from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, followed by enlistment in the army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
He was assigned to the 2nd Airborne Division in infantry and unit armor.
While in North Carolina after the army, McDaniel attended welding school for one year.
Following that, he moved to Imperial but attended gunsmithing school at the Colorado School of Trades in Denver, receiving an Associate’s degree in gunsmithing in May 2019.
He started JM Precision right after graduation.
“I plan to host precision training classes for long-range rifles and handguns,” said McDaniel.
He will announce the hours of business once he opens the doors in Imperial.
The McDaniels opened the original business north of Wauneta in September 2019.
The couple has two children.
