With the exterior nearing completion, work will soon begin on the interior of The Corner Store in Champion.

The Corner Store coming soon to Champion

For those in western Chase County who don’t want to run into Imperial for a sandwich or gallon of milk, help is coming soon.
Maddi Brown, along with Jacci and Dave Brown, will be opening The Corner Store this fall in Champion.
“We wanted a fun project and saw an opportunity,” Maddi said.
“There’s no store like it in Champion.”
The store will include typical convenience store fare, like pop and chips, as well as liquor and beer. The store will also include a drive thru window.
Sandwiches and pizza — something for lunch — are also in the plans.
Work on the building, by Matt and Kelsey Owens, began in May. Interior work will begin soon with an anticipated opening in late September/early October.
Maddi will manage the property and anticipates hiring one or two employees.
Hours are still being discussed, but they plan on being open six days a week.
“We’ll open and see what’s needed,” Maddi said.
The idea for the store took shape quickly. Maddi said she and her mom started talking about it around the first of the year and didn’t waste time deciding to go for it.
Everyone she’s talked to has been pretty excited about being able to get a snack or drink in Champion during their days, Maddi said.
