New CCS teacher returns to Chase County

■ Editor’s note: This is second in a series of stories on new teaching staff at Chase County Schools.

Lisa Davison has begun her first year at Chase County Schools (CCS) as the special education teacher for grades 4-6.
The position at CCS will begin her sixth year of teaching.
Davison grew up in Lamar and attended school for grades K-8. She then attended high school at CCS, graduating in 1992.
As a special education teacher, she has a passion for educating and influencing the leaders of our future, Davison said.
“I’ve always been a person for the underdog. Special education students can easily fall between the cracks. I like being an advocate for them,” she said.
Davison explained that it is important to her to give her students the tools they need to be productive in society, culture and an ever-changing world.
“I gain something everyday—a new perspective— while looking through the eyes of my students. It helps to fill my tool box,” she added.
Davison attended Spoon River College in Macomb, Illinois, receiving an Associate of Arts degree in teaching.
She continued her education at Western Illinois University, also in Macomb, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in education and learning behavior.
Davison has three children, an older son who is in the Navy, and a daughter who attends school in Texas. Her youngest daughter, Haley, is 16 years old and a junior at CCS this year.
She and her daughter moved to Imperial the end of July and were fortunate to find a place to live right away, she said.
