Wayne Daniel, age 82, of Hamlet, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.
Wayne was born April 28, 1939, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to parents, Orval W. Daniel and Ruth E. (Myers) Daniel. He was one of six children.
Wayne graduated from high school in Minden with the class of 1957. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country.
Together with his first wife, Wayne had three children: Dale, Harlene and Richard. Wayne married Joann (Geis) Daniel on April 22, 1967, in Irving, Texas. He raised children, Julie and Johnny, from Joann’s previous marriage. Over the years, Wayne worked as a machinist for Dahlgren Manufacturing where he created iron molds.
Following his retirement in 1999, Wayne and Joann moved back to Nebraska from Texas where Wayne enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed working in his yard and completing projects around his home. Wayne was a member of the Hamlet Union Church.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Orval “Jack” and Lester Daniel; sister, Irene Fisher; and son, Richard Daniel
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Joann Daniel of McCook; son, Johnny (Elizabeth) Bornman of Oakland, Oregon; daughter, Julie Rogers of McCook; brother, Harland (Mary) Daniel of McCook; sister, Imagene Peres of McCook; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the McCook Humane Society, P.O. Box 13, McCook, NE 69001.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 12 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Meadow Lawn Cemetery, Hamlet.
