Veraldine (Sharp) Hansen
Veraldine (Sharp) Hansen was born April 12, 1926, in Enders, Nebraska. She peacefully passed away in her home in Sacramento, California on Dec. 2, 2020. She was baptized into the Church of the Brethren in Enders, choosing Christ as a child.
Veraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and May Sharp; three brothers and their spouses: LeRoy (and wife Thelma), Kermit (wife Ella and second wife Thelma), Wayne (and wife Lois); three sisters: Neva, Geraldine (twin sister) and Zella.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, John Canfield of Sacramento, California, many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. Local niece and nephew are Janette Peterson of Enders and Daryl (wife Julie) Sharp of Imperial.
Veraldine grew up on the family farm with her three brothers: LeRoy, Kermit and Wayne; and three sisters: Neva, her twin sister Geraldine who died at age 4, and Zella.
She attended grammar school in Enders and graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial. Like many other farm children, she lived with a family in Imperial during winters due to the snowfall.
She graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at Cheyenne Wyoming Veterans Hospital until she moved to Long Beach, California. She then moved to Sacramento to work at Sutter Hospital, followed by private nursing for many years.
With her kind heart, Veraldine used her vacation and leave time to help care for sick family members when needed.
Veraldine was an actrive member of the Marconi Avenue Baptist Church in Sacramento for many years. With her health deteriorating over the past 10 years, she was unable to continue much outside of her home.
Veraldine often mentioned she would like to be buried next to her twin sister in Imperial.
A Celebration of Life will be held with family Sunday afternoon, Aug. 22, 2021.
