Thelma Jean Long

Thelma Jean Long was born June 24, 1938, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Arthur Avery and Lois Iola (Clements) Siefken. She grew up in Imperial and graduated from Chase County High School in 1956.
On March 12, 1955, Thelma married Irvin Dale Long in Benkelman. The couple first settled in Wauneta, then relocated to Lincoln where Irvin was employed in construction and Thelma worked in several factories including Russell Stover Candies and Lester’s Electrical Company.
Thelma enjoyed cross stitching, camping, fishing, bowling and collecting cookie jars. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thelma passed away early Sunday morning, June 27, 2021, at her home near McCook, surrounded by family. She was 83 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin in 2020; daughter, Penny Ritchie; in-laws Hazel and Hack Long; and grandson, Shawn Ritchie.
Survivors include four daughters: Jean (husband Fred) Thomas of York, Jacqua “Jackie” (husband Randy) Georges of McCook, Jody (husband Duane) French of Sioux City, Iowa, Terry (Mike Kahler) Landolt of Sutton; son, Bill Long (wife Leann) of Waco; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several cousins and four nieces.
Graveside services for Thelma will be held in conjunction with her late husband, Irvin, Saturday, July 24, 2021, 11 a.m. (MT), at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Nebraska.
