Susan Aileen Kanost

Susan Aileen Kanost, 68, was born in Imperial, Nebraska on May 26, 1953, to Edwin and Carolyn (Olmsted) Kanost. She was a former Wauneta resident and Wauneta High School graduate and passed away Aug. 28, 2021 after a short illness.
After high school, Susan attended college at Southeast Community College in Lincoln and became an operating room technician at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. From there, she obtained her pharmacy degree from the University of Colorado. She worked as a pharmacist in Fort Morgan, Colorado and Lincoln, Nebraska before retiring in 2009. She then moved to Houlton, Maine as she enjoyed the cooler weather.
She enjoyed Husker sports, especially soccer, and she also loved to watch tennis and attend hot air balloon festivals. She loved dogs and had many of them as pets over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Nick. She is survived by her half-brother, Bob Simpson (Yolanda) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and brother Loren Kanost (Cathy) of Lincoln. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Shera, Kelly, Taylor, Brian and Bob.
Memorials can be directed to Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, Nebraska.
A graveside service is planned at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta at a later date.
