Robert Eugene Trainer

Robert Eugene Trainer, age 89, passed away in Santa Rosa, California on March 9, 2023.
He was born in Palisade, Nebraska in 1933, the son of Howard and Etta Trainer.
Robert is survived by his wife, Anne Trainer of Santa Rosa, California; son Richard (Barbara) Trainer of England; and daughter, Sharon (Rick) Freeman of Tiburon, California.
Bob graduated from Chase County High School in 1951, where one of his teachers encouraged him to go to college and even helped him find scholarships. He went to MIT and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1955. After graduation he moved to Los Angeles for a job in the computer industry.
He met his wife, Anne, at a dance at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
He worked in the computer industry for many years, working on everything from early compilers, missile guidance, aerospace to computerized hospital systems.
 In the early 1970s he and his family moved, first to Germany, then to the Netherlands where they lived for a few years.
He enjoyed playing Bridge and met many good friends playing Bridge. He enjoyed traveling and once wrote, while working in Italy, “It was a good day though nothing was special. It reminded me of the days when Anne and I would just go exploring. I seem to love to be on the open road seeing new things.”
Funeral services will be private.
He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will be missed.
