Norma graduated from Chase County High School in 1944. Wanting to explore the world, she left Imperial to find work in Chicago.

In 1959, Norma left the State Department and moved to San Francisco, California and remained in the Bay Area for the rest of her life. Always loving travel, she became a travel agent to share her love of travel with others. Norma attended Menlo Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. She volunteered with many organizations including the Red Cross. Norma never married and was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers J. Russell Mead and Boyd M. Mead; and infant Corwin Enfield Mead. She is survived by her sisters Phyllis L. (Mead) Stinnette and Carol YeVonne (Mead) Medsker.
Norma’s final wish was to have half her ashes scattered in her beloved Pacific Ocean and half buried in Imperial.
There will be a graveside memorial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial on Aug. 6, 2022 at 1 p.m.
