Lucille Dinnel

N. Lucille Dinnel was born July 9, 1929, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Pearl and Ethel Ridlen. As a young girl, Lucille attended the Zell Grade School which was located west of Wauneta.
On Nov. 13, 1946, Lucille married Verlon Dinnel at the Ridlen family home west of Wauneta and to this union four daughters were born: Colleen, Lanette, Ardith and Brenda. Lucille and Verlon settled on a farm northeast of Enders, where they raised their family and continued to reside until they retired in 2009 and moved to their present home in Imperial.
Lucille loved the farm and in addition to being an avid farmwife and mother to her daughters, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Lucille passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial. She was 93 years of age.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents Pearl and Ethel Ridlen; daughter Lanette Smith; son-in-law Steve Broughton; sisters: Lois (Kenneth) Dow, Marie (Russel) (George) Mader and Pauline (Quentin) Johnson; brothers: Lee (Leola) Ridlen, Paul (Delores) Ridlen, Carl (Virginia) Ridlen, Ray (Thelma) Ridlen, Roy Ridlen and Robert (Deanna) Ridlen; father and mother-in-law Earl and Lorena Dinnel; and brother and sister-in-law Basil and Helen Dinnel.
Survivors include: husband Verlon of Imperial; daughter Colleen (Dave) Mullanix of Lamar, Ardith (Russ) Niemann of Ellington, Connecticut and Brenda Broughton of Beatrice; son-in-law Clyde Smith of Billings, Montana; 12 grandchildren Stephanie (Adam) Stevens, Jackie Mullanix, Dorinda (Mike) Gunderson, Kevin Smith, Shane Smith, Denise (Kelly) Williams, Matt (Jeanette) Kadow, Janel (Sal) Laudano, Drew (Lyndsay) Kadow, Jeff (Danielle) Broughton, Justin (Lindsay) Broughton, Garrett (Laura) Broughton, Corissa (Rich) Dubord; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Lucille were held Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at the Imperial Berean Church, Imperial, with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at Liewer Funeral Home, Imperial.
A memorial, in Lucille’s memory, has been suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
