Karen Louise (Lucas) Doetker

Karen Louise (Lucas) Doetker was born July 2, 1955, to Kenneth and Tillie (Sinka) Lucas in Lamar, Colorado, the third of five children.
She passed away Jan. 13, 2023, with family by her side.
During her youth, Karen was involved in 4-H and FFA and enjoyed life living on the farm. The family moved to Wauneta in 1970 where she graduated high school.
On June 5, 1976, Karen married Loren Doetker. The couple lived on a farm southeast of Wauneta. Over the years, Karen worked as an aide in the Wauneta school library, a CNA at the Heritage of Wauneta and numerous positions at Wal-Mart in both McCook and North Platte. She shared her joy of 4-H with her daughters, teaching them to sew and ripping out many a seam. Karen enjoyed her grandchildren the most and loved seeing them every chance she got.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth; husband, Loren; and infant daughter, Christina.
Those left to cherish her memory are mother Tillie Lucas of Wauneta; daughters Lisa (Russ) Schaffert of Culbertson, Kay Markut of McCook and Michelle Doetker of Sidney; grandchildren Hayden, Evan, Beau, Nicholas, Aaliyah, Christina and Hailea; many nieces and nephews; extended family; and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Karen will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 11 a.m. (MT), at the Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta, with a private family burial at Eden Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation as her wishes of cremation will be honored.
