Karen Karrleen Steinbeck

Karen Karrleen Steinbeck was born Oct. 24, 1940, at Palisade, Nebraska, to Francis M. and Mildred O. (Weston) Andrew. As a youngster, she grew up and attended School in Palisade, graduating Palisade High School in 1958.
On Jan. 11, 1960, she married Duane “Pete” Steinbeck in Benkelman. They lived and farmed south of Wauneta. In 1997 the couple moved to Kearney. Pete retired in 1991 and he and Karen moved to Republican City. Due to Pete’s health, the couple moved back to southwest Nebraska, and Karen made Palisade her home.
Karen was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries and the Eagles. She enjoyed cross stitching, and watching wrestling on television.
Karen passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at the McCook Clinic, McCook. Karen was 80 years of age.
Survivors Include: daughters: Janice Hinrichsen and husband, Alex, of Elm Creek, Denise Carfield and Husband, Darin, of McCook; grandchildren: Joshua Bailey, Brooke Nunns, Nesha Rose, Ariel Forbes, and Trista Curl; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Taylor, Kennedy and Brock Bailey, Tren Nunns, Samira Gable, Hayes Rose and Adelynn Curl; brothers: James Andrew, of Palisade, Albert Andrew and wife, Janette, of North Platte;  sister-in-law: Bernita Conklin of Topeka, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane “Pete” Steinbeck; siblings, Kay, Ivan and Sharon; son-in-law, Thomas Bailey.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, 2 p.m. (Central Time) at the Palisade Cemetery, with Randy Hayes officiating.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, before services at Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta.
A memorial has been suggested to the Steinbeck Family for a future designation.
