James Arnold Lenters

James Arnold Lenters was born Feb. 4, 1947, in South St. Paul, Minnesota, to Hazel Mary (Irons) and Sam Theodore Lenters. Jim, as he was known, grew up and attended school in Iowa and Colorado. He graduated from Manitou Springs High School in 1965. He continued his education at Colorado State University where he received his degree in 1969.
On June 3, 1978, Jim married Bernice Ann Miller and the couple settled in Fort Collins, Colorado, where they raised their three daughters Cheryl, Jenni and Katie. Jim was a longtime employee of Mawson Lumber and Hardware in Fort Collins. In October of 2020, Jim and Bernice moved to Imperial, Nebraska to be closer to family and enjoy their grandson, James.
Jim enjoyed woodworking and screen printing. He especially loved spending time with his family. Jim was always busy with a project and was an amazing handyman. He was a member of Trimble Court Artisans in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Jim passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his home in Imperial, surrounded by his family. Jim was 76 years of age.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Sam Lenters; sister Lucy Brenning; and daughter, Cheryl Socolofsky.
Survivors include wife Bernice Lenters of Imperial; daughters Katie (Mark) Bomba of Imperial and Jennifer (Tyler) Socolofsky of Glendo, Wyoming; grandchildren Natasha Ortiz, Adam Socolofsky, Kaden Orback and James Bomba; and sister Marjorie (Kerry) Hansen.
A memorial in Jim’s memory, has been suggested to the Lenters Family for a future designation.
Private family service will be held in Colorado.
