Eugene Lee Carrigan

Eugene Lee Carrigan was born April 1, 1942, in Wauneta, Nebraska. Gene (as he was known) resided in Northglenn, Colorado and passed away Nov. 20, 2020, at the age of 78, after an extended illness.
Gene was raised by his father, Alme Eugene Carrigan, and grandmother, Vida, after his mother, Vera, passed away in 1948. In May of 1956, when Gene was 14, he and his sister, Connie, welcomed their step-mother, Inez Rose Carrigan, and their step-brother, Edwin F. Rose, into the family.
Gene grew up and attended school in Wauneta, graduating from Wauneta High School. He then furthered his education at McCook Community College.
He married Cathy Pursley on Sept. 8, 1962. They divorced in 1972 but remained lifelong friends.
Gene was a good man with a good heart. He worked for the White Store, the Jim Walter Corporation and the Colorado Garage Door Company for many years.
He was very active in his community, volunteering with the Westminster Police Department. He was chairman of his HOA Board for many years. He also progressed to Third Degree Master Mason, and he was very proud when his sons became Masons. Gene also enjoyed hiking and camping in the beautiful Colorado mountains.
Gene is survived by his sons: Mark (Sherrie) of Lamar, Colorado and Doug (Cathy) of Brighton, Colorado; grandchildren: Lauren (Matt) of Thornton, Colorado, Sean of Greeley, Colorado, Brittany (Vinny) of Lamar, Colorado, Matthew of Broomfield, Colorado and Robin (Shane) of Arvada, Colorado; great-grandchildren: Logan, Colton, Carsten, Gracelyn, Sophie, and Dakota; sister, Connie (Gary) of Salem, Oregon; nieces: Tami (Allen) of Salem, Oregon, and Shawna (Jim) of Tigard, Oregon; as well as numerous other relatives.
Graveside inurnment services will be held Friday morning, June 25 at 11 a.m. (MT) at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, with Johnny Walker officiating,
As per Gene’s wishes, cremation was chosen with no visitation.
Memorials have been suggested to the local hospice or the organization of the donor’s choice.
