Charles ‘Chuck’ Wesley Jordan

Charles “Chuck” Wesley Jordan, 73, a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of McCook, Nebraska, passed away Aug. 25, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado Oct. 10, 1947, to Richard Edward and Irma Jane (Miller) Jordan. He grew up in Fort Collins and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1965.
Chuck proudly served in the United States Army from 1967-1970. He was deployed to Germany and  later fought in the Vietnam War as a flamethrower tank driver. During his years of service, he gained the rank of Sergeant and acquired his Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and later his Purple Heart Combat Medal.
After the war, Chuck returned home and married the love of his life, Betty Ann Robinson, on Feb. 18, 1972, in Fort Collins. To this union three children were born.
They spent the early years of marriage farming with family in Colorado and later moved to Imperial and eventually to McCook in 1987. Chuck spent many years in auto and implement sales, where he received many awards. Later he worked for Paulson, Inc. and McCook Public Schools.
Chuck was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a talented woodworker and was well known for his deer jerky, smoked turkeys and homemade wine. He enjoyed collecting guns and knives. Chuck loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty, of 34 years.
Those left to celebrate his life include his children: Charles E. Jordan (Jon Nicholson), Shawna (Kevin) Michaelis, Crystl Chauncy, all of McCook; his canine companion, “Kay;” brothers, Richard (Kathy) Jordan of LaPorte, Colorado, and Stanley Jordan of Fort Collins; sister, Jolene (Jon) Lind of Burlington, Colorado; six grandchildren: Emmerie, Jordan, Landyn, Jorlynn, Jayla  and Hadley; and countless friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. CT Friday, Sept. 3 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.  Interment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook, with military honors.
A celebration of life gathering will take place on Friday evening, Sept. 3 at the McCook Eagles Club with the family present beginning at 5 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the family of Charles Jordan for future designation.
