Carol Wentz, 76, of Fairbury, Nebraska formerly of Naper passed away on Nov., 25, 2020 at the Bryan Medical Center-East in Lincoln. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Naper. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, South Dakota. Family requests that masks be worn at the services.
Carol Ann (Dummer) Wentz was born Oct. 16, 1944, in Spencer to Herman and Lena Dummer. She was the sixth of nine children. She grew up on a farm in the Naper area and attended a country school until sixth grade when she started attending school in Naper. After graduating from Naper Public Schools in 1962, she attended Bens Beauty School in Lincoln. Carol received her cosmetology license in Dec.  1963.
Carol married Dennis Wentz, on March 14, 1964, in Naper. They had three children: Renae, Sheryl and Brett. Throughout their marriage, they lived in various places in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa. Carol enjoyed being a para-professional in multiple schools and retired in 2006.
Carol was proceeded in death by her parents Herman and Lena Dummer; brothers DeWane, Marlin and Willard Dummer; sister Patsy VanHouten; brother-in-laws Harold Ulmer and Glen VanHouten; sister-in-laws Zelda Dummer and Janice Dummer.
Carol is survived by her husband Dennis Wentz; sisters Nola Ulmer, Dorothy (Jerry) Heermann, Doris Olson; brother Harvey (Kathy) Dummer; sister-in-law Barbara Dummer; children Renae (Kirk) Christensen, Sheryl (Bryan) Einspahr, Brett (Rachel) Wentz; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
