Barbara Anne Brown

Barbara Anne Brown was born March 28, 1930, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Oris Albert and Angelina Elizabeth (McMannama) Brown.  As a young girl, Barbara attended school in Imperial, Nebraska, and graduated from Chase County High School in 1948.  
On May 13, 1949, Barbara married Hubert C. Brown at the Evangelical United Brethren Church.  The couple first settled in Enders, where Barbara began teaching school.  She also taught music (accordion and piano) lessons for many years.  In 1956, Barbara began working as a postal clerk at Enders and in 1979 she became the Enders Postmaster until she retired in 1989.  Barbara and Hubert relocated to Imperial in 1976 and moved into her childhood home.  
Barbara enjoyed music, sewing, antique collecting, dancing, traveling and working on puzzles.  She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  
Barbara passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at her home in Imperial.  She was 90 years of age.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hubert; and her half sister Marilyn J. (Moody) Brown.
Survivors include: daughters, Mary Ann Dutrow and husband Alfred of McPherson, Kansas and Donna Case of Lexington; sons, Michael George Brown and wife Irma of Martinez, California and  Joe Brown and wife Robin of Martinsville, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Natalie Dutrow (Jared Cassisano) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jonathan Dutrow of Moab, Utah, Nicholas (Erin) Brown of San Jose, California; Robert Case of Sidney, Janine (Vince) Ruscetta of Thornton, Colorado, Joni Case of Kearney, Joseph Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four great-grandchildren: Quentin Johnson of Kearney, Jase & Jillianna Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cecilia Brown of San Jose, California; six step-grandchildren: Jason, Jonathan, Jacob, Joel, Jay and Julie Jeffries; 12 step-great-grandchildren: Hayley, Elissa, Ethan, McKinley, Santiago, Jordan, Diego, Alex, Colton, Jayde, Finnegan, Maxwell.
Funeral Services for Barbara will be held Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, 10:30 a.m. (MT), at Liewer Funeral Home, Imperial, with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.  
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, 2-6 p.m. (MT), (With the Family Present) at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established in Barbara’s name to the McCook Hospice.
