Alvin Lee Christensen

Alvin Lee Christensen lost his courageous, long fought, battle with ALS on Jan. 26, 2023.
Alvin was born to Glen Downs and Edna Ruth (Metcalf) Christensen on May 25, 1940, in Imperial, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm east of Wauneta with his two brothers, Richard and Neil. When he was 16, he was baptized and accepted Jesus as his Savior and graduated from Wauneta Rural High School in 1958.
He married Joyce Baker on Aug. 5, 1961 and had four children, Karl (Chris), Kirk (Renae), Rhonda (Michael McClellan) and Julie (Craig Schnitzler).
He graduated from UNK in 1963 and taught in several Nebraska schools. He also served for 19 year as superintendent of rural Nebraska schools.
He enjoyed family, friends, hand cornhusking, hunting and rifle shooting.
