Just in time for Memorial Day, new bricks were added to the Chase County Veterans Memorial Tuesday. Above, Lyman Linger places a brick for BIll Jeffries just above a new brick for Dale Bischoff. A brick for Knotty Knotwell was next in line. Besides the 15 newly placed bricks, four more bricks have been paid for, but VFW Post Commander Bud Statz said the committee would like to get to 10 before placing the order.
It will be a busy day Monday at cemeteries in the area in an effort to acknowledge Memorial Day and those who gave their lives for this country.
A young writer in Imperial placed second in her age group in a statewide short story contest held to honor one of Nebraska’s well-known authors.
