Waypoint Bank holiday money tree benefits patron, local church

For the third year in a row, Waypoint Bank has displayed a Christmas tree in their lobby
decorated with festive ornaments and money.
Patrons visiting the bank during open house week, Dec. 16 - 20, got the chance to guess how much money was on the tree, said Matthew Musgrove, bank president.
The person guessing closest to the actual amount won half the money with the other half presented to the charity of their choice.
Musgrove said 68 people entered a guess, but Vivian Todd came the closest with a guess of $250, he said.
The actual amount on the tree was $264.54.
Todd received half with the other half going to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, her charity of choice.
“I looked at the tree and thought to myself there was no way I would ever guess how much was on it,” Todd laughed.
Harmaleigh Dubas, bank loan officer, presented two checks Friday to Todd and Father Lothar Gilde, each for $132.27.
During open house week, not only did people get to enter their guesses for the money tree, they also enjoyed visiting with other patrons, sampling refreshments and participated in games and activities provided by bank employees, Dubas said.
“Open house week encourages fellowship among our patrons and staff members while strengthening the bank’s presence in the community,” she said.
Dubas said it was a great opportunity for fun, friendship, building community ties and benefiting a worthy charity, she said.
“And one lucky person won some extra money for the holidays,” she added.
