Vote on hospital bond issue one step closer
The question of whether to build a new hospital in Chase County moved a step closer to a countywide vote Monday.
Board members of the Chase County Community Hospital approved a resolution asking county commissioners to set a special election for a 25-year, $20.5 million bond issue.
The commissioners will discuss the resolution at their next meeting Tuesday, March 12.
Hospital board members met with their design-build firms in a special meeting to get a revised guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the construction of a new hospital.
In July, the firms presented a GMP of $29.76 million for a brand new, stand alone facility.
Neither hospital board members nor county commissioners had the appetite to put that big of a bond issue request to a vote.
