VFW State Commander visits local Post

Larry Gerlt, VFW State Commander for Nebraska, has been visiting local VFW posts around the state to speak with members on the latest topics concerning Nebraska veterans. Gerlt’s schedule placed him at the VFW Post 4688 in Imperial for a 12 noon meeting and pizza on Monday where 10 local veterans attended. One of his goals was to share information on increasing memberships and how to facilitate the process, he said. “Memberships now and in the future are dependent on how to better take care of our veterans at the local post and state levels,” Gerlt said. “Two-thirds of Nebraska’s veterans are over the age of 65,” he continued. The Department and State Membership Team is available to provide support to local posts on various topics, said Gerlt. Pictured during Gerlt’s visit were, front from left, Lorena McArthur, veteran; Duane Todd, Service Officer; Bob Hartman, veteran; Bud Statz, Quartermaster, back from left, Casey McArthur, veteran; Pastor David Kahle, Post Chaplain; Eldon Kuntzelman, Post Commander; Larry Gerlt, State Commander; Eric Gonzalez, Jr. Vice-Commander; and Bob Thomas, veteran.
